Empowerment refers to the process of enabling someone to increase control over his/her life. Women empowerment is a set of measures designed to increase the degree of autonomy and self-determination in women through education, training, raising awareness enabling them to make life-determining decisions through the different problems in society. Empowerment of women and girls is critical to building stable, democratic societies; protecting human rights; fostering international peace and security; growing vibrant market economies; addressing pressing health and education challenges.
Allama Iqbal, Pakistan’s national poet, one of a great Muslim poet, philosopher and scholar of all the times was fundamentally a humanist. He specifically has discussed about importance, role and rights of women in a society. This research is made to create women empowerment in Pakistan, through developing an indigenous narrative in context of cultural, religious and social boundaries from Allama Iqbal’s perspective.
This study is made to create awareness on women empowerment from indigenous perspective of Pakistan, especially by proposing an outline for national level curriculum from the perspective of Allama Iqbal for the departments of Women/Gender Studies in Pakistan, which ultimately will help create economic, social, cultural, educational, political and psychological empowerment amongst women in Pakistan
